My group consists of 4 members, Valerie, Shakila, Charmaine Lau and Colleen. We are suppose to go down to Seng Kang Primary School every Wednesday to teach the foundation pupils. For the first lesson, we were very awkward with them and did not really talk to them as we were shy, hence, the only thing we did was to just teach them oral. But after a while, the students there joked and laughed and we found them very sociable, not long later, we were laughing and chatting with each other. For the second lesson, i was not able to go due to training. For the third lesson, our assignment is to get them to finish an English Paper. Even though the students were doing it slowly, they managed to finish it, and their reward was a cup of ice milo bought by us. We would be continuing this tuition until their end of PSLE. We hope we can help them to improve their grades and hopefully get into an express stream. We hope our next few sessions would be productive and help them alot.

The enjoyable process

Right from the beginning, we knew it was going to be interesting as none of us have had this experience of tutoring primary school children. Currently we are now still going every week for each session and having different experiences for each one. At first i had much pressure as i feared that i would teach them the wrong things but through this experience, i've learnt to be more confident and not worry too much as that would affect my performance. As the students were from a foundation class, we had to adjust to their learning speed and not go too fast so they would be able to absorb easier, making the lesson productive for both ourselves and the students. So far, it has been enjoyable to tutor and assist them throughout and i hope that this would continue till the end of our ipw!(:

Hello!
My group which consists of Valerie, Shakila, Charmaine Lau & Colleen have started an IPW project at Sengkang Primary School. So, here are some updates!
Our first session was quite tough. We were not very familiar with the place and we were awkward in teaching the students at first. Hence, the first lesson was not as productive as we thought it would be :( However, as we got along the next few lessons, we managed to get the hang of it! hopefully our upcoming sessoins will be even more productive!
